Something About Me

Frederick Ferrer

Frederick Ferrer leads the Great State of Montana. Mr. Ferrer is a military intelligence veteran, national security expert and educator with over four decades of knowledge and experience in the Intelligence Community (IC), National Defense, Homeland Security, Homeland Defense, Anti-Terrorism and Cybersecurity fields. After two full careers (in the U.S. Air Force and as a civilian), he retired in Montana to build a homestead for himself, his wife and family.

In addition to serving as the Montana Director for Restore Liberty, Frederick is an online professor for several universities. Currently, he teaches undergraduate intelligence studies for Liberty University’s Helms School of Government and graduate-level cybersecurity for the University of Maryland Global Campus. He has completed a PhD program of studies in American History (with minors in Russian and European History) and holds a Master of Science degree in Strategic Intelligence from the Department of Defense’s National Intelligence University.

Having held a Top Secret Special Compartmented Intelligence Clearance for most of his adult life with agencies such as the NSA, CIA, DIA, DHS and FBI, Frederick has a clear understanding of the nation’s intelligence apparatus. His experience ranges from his initial work as a Russian Cryptologic linguist, collecting Soviet military communications; through working against terrorists and guerillas; and protecting the nation from Islamist extremism in an anti-terrorism role.

Retiring after 20 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Air Force with 28 military awards and decorations and with numerous leadership and teaching achievements, Frederick continues to serve other veterans. He is the American Legion Post 10 (Deer Lodge) Historian and writes a bi-monthly column in the Silver State Post. He is the Historian Emeritus of his last Air Force Unit—the 91 st Demon Chasers—born collecting aerial intelligence from bi-planes over WWI battlefields and still in the fight today with a global cyber mission.

Frederick is an inductee of the Chapel of the Four Chaplains Legion of Honor and has served as a church Elder and Deacon Overseer. He is currently serving as an Elder at a new Cowboy Church (Copper Cross) in Ramsay, Montana. Frederick has been married for almost 38 years and he and his wife have four grown children and eight grandchildren, five of them currently being home-schooled.

Frederick would tell you his political awareness came after he joined the Air Force and continued through his military career. Especially, during those opportunities he had to work with the Executive and Legislative branches in Washington DC in the latter part of his career.

After retiring from the Air Force, Frederick enrolled in the PhD program at Florida State the year before the 2000 Presidential election. He headed up the College Republican effort at the university and was there at ground zero for the election fight and personally witnessed things like the Democrat Party’s effort to disenfranchise Florida’s military voters who were serving overseas; mainstream media’s manipulation and labor union interference.

Frederick has served as an Election Judge and for the campaigns of conservatives in several states. He is currently involved with the Butte-Silver Bow Republican Central Committee in attempting reinvigorate the efforts to elect conservatives after almost a year of dormancy.

My Vision for Montana

What I Believe

After Basic Training, I spent my first year in the Air Force learning the Russian language at the Presidio of Monterey’s Defense Language Institute.  Quite a challenge for someone who had never taken a foreign language in high school!  However, the fine folks at the MEPS administered a test that informed them I had a natural talent to learn languages.  The attrition rate was high (something like 60 percent of the senior group at the school).  Between that specter of failure and the continual reminder that our Cold War Soviet enemies were watching us, we were all mostly “nervous in the service!”
